I just got back from a very rainy, weekend get away to Cape May, New Jersey. Whenever I travel, I always look for design inspiration for my fixer upper projects back home. It’s always cool to see how different places use their natural surroundings to inform the way spaces are designed.
Most of the houses boasted vibrant paint colors on the exteriors. Bright reds, yellows, and greens were everywhere. The interiors had some seriously questionable paint choices that just seemed to work. Like, I would never do this to my own house, but it just fit with the overall vibe of the town.
I hope I don’t sound too much like a travel brochure, but Cape May is definitely an amazing coastal town with beautiful beaches, lovely gardens, and an ecclectic mix of natural stones, exposed brick, and amazing weathered metals.
I’m totally inspired! I don’t know if I can be as daring with my color choices as the good folks in Cape May seem to be, but I definitely am going to try to recreate some of the charm! I can’t wait to diy something coastal 🙂
